Over the past few years, there has been a rise in the number of
milk brands in India. Each of these brands, across India claim to be selling
the milk that is better than the rest. So who do you trust and how do you make
a choice? In order to choose between the different milk brands in India, you
need to know whether the milk that you are consuming is fresh milk or not? In order to ascertain that one needs to understand the
difference between the organic and the inorganic milk.
The Department of Agriculture
has put forth 4 major requirements to tag the milk as organic. Only and only if
all these conditions are met absolutely, the milk will be labeled as organic
milk.
Firstly, the cow milk that is organic is attained from the cows
that are free grazing. Secondly, these cows are fed with grass and grains that
are free from pesticides. Next, the cows that produce organic milk must be kept
away from antibiotics. Usually when the organic milk producing cows fall sick,
they are treated with antibiotics. These antibiotics are necessary so as to
ensure the speedy recovery of the cow. However, during the phase that the cow
is undergoing recovery, it is kept away from the herd of the milk producing
cows. Only after the cow has fully recovered, it undergoes several tests. After
the tests ensure that the effect of the antibiotics from the body of the cow
has vanished, the cow is brought back to the herd. The period of keeping the
cow away from the herd depends upon the severity in the condition of the cow
and the time taken by the cow for recovery. Lastly, the milk producing cow must
never be exposed to BGH or the bovine growth hormone. This hormone is usually
used by the milk producers to facilitate or rather to accentuate the milk
production. BGH may have serious repercussions when goes to the human body. It
destroys the protein found in the stomach and makes one feel weak. Together
these four requirements are necessary to label the milk as organic. Of all such
conditions are met, such a milk is the best milk in india. .
There are a variety of nutrients in milk that add to its
health benefits. Milk is necessary for bone and teeth development. It
facilitates weight management and ensures a balanced body growth. It is
necessary for bone and muscle development. These are just few of the many
benefits of milk.
